The Vagabond 1916

Charlie Chaplin | , Comedy , Romance

The Vagabond is the third film Chaplin made for Mutual Company and although not the funniest, certainly one of the most serious and interesting. Chaplin tells a melodramatic story with elements of melancholy, similar to those we can find in later feature films such as The Kid. The Tramp is an impoverished street violinist who falls for a gypsy girl (Edna Purviance) and rescues her from a gypsy camp.

Cast: Charles Chaplin, Edna Purviance, Eric Campbell.
